I’m so glad that someone else posted this question about homeless men. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only paranoid one. As an eighteen year old female who by noo means has anyyyy muscle or strength to protect herself, I’ve been concerned. Oh and where can you buy pepper spray…? How much pepper spray is in the bottle? If I were to buy it and test it out by spraying it somewhere in the open, would I already have used half the bottle if it’s like a travel size?

You can buy pepperspray at any outdoors or sports store like Academy. I got mine there. I haven’t used it ever, so I don’t know if half the can goes to waste when you practice. It is travel sized, but I think they all come like that so you can whip it out in emergencies. Mine has a holster and a keychain ring for easy access.

I just didn’t want to buy it and not test it out in case, you know? I would get that situation and try to warn the guy by busting out my pepper spray just to find out at the last moment that it had a defect…

On a runners’ forum, someone suggested buying a tiny airhorn instead of pepper spray. They are deafening, and won’t hurt you if it gets aimed at yourself! I just bought several for myself and kids at Sports Authority.

yeah but I’ll be stunned as well as the harasser as I have no idea what to expect by having an airhorn sound so close to me…
