I am a junior in high school, homeschooled since grade 7 and planning to take trigonometry this year. However i have hated every high school math book i've used except Mathematics a Human Endeavor (which has no corresponding trig book). I hated online (and it's a problem with the web format so i don't want any online courses at all). I hated Saxon. I hated Barron's the Easy Way. I am now doing PSAT prep while I look for something to use. Does anyone have any good recs? I'm getting desperate here!

Should explain concepts well and not be TOO difficult (I will take AP Statistics rather than calculus). Also should have a respectable sounding name (not Trig for Dummies) as the common app asks for textbook titles.

You could try dual enrollment at your local community college. You would get in classroom help and college credit at the same time. I feel you on the online math classes. They’re hard…

I’d recommend anything from ArtofProblemSolving, they are extremely intuitive and well written, and if you have questions you can always ask on artofproblemsolving forum :D

Teaching text books is a great series! I used their Geometry book last year, am using Algebra 2 this year, and plan on taking trig next year. They are a very good series!! Good luck!! :)

They have actual college professors teach the concepts in a way you can really understand, since they KNOW HOW TO TEACH. You watch a few 3-4 minute lectures, then do several practice problems and complete a short worksheet, and that’s your lesson. I’m able to take both Alg2 and Geometry this year (10th) because of how easy it is to learn from them, and trust me – I hated math before this. Craziness. Google “thinkwell homeschool” and check out their free trial!

You should see if video instruction (Art of Problem Solving, Thinkwell) might work for you by trying Khan Academy (all-free w/videos, decent tiered problem solving database).

Harold Jacobs author of Mathematics Endeavor recommends Paul Forester as a follow on to his Alg 1 and Geometry. It covers Alg 2/Adv Alg/Trig which we used in 10th and 11th grade and then used his Calculus for 12th grade. My oldest two used Jacobs/Forester in high school and scored 700+ on the SAT math and Math 2 subject tests.

KHAN ACADEMY! It helped me enormously. Also try some of the links over here: [Homeschool College USA](http://www.homeschoolcollegeusa.com/) On the sidebar there are “courses” which consist of a self-study outline and online resources for each subject. Very helpful.
