Hello,
I will be a homeschooled junior in fall 2015 and I want to self study for the AP Comp. Sci exam and the English Language And Comp. exam. And maybe US Govt or History. I’m totally new to this so how would I do this? Do I get books likw Barrons, Princeton, etc? I also just signed up for the AP Comp Sci course on a website called EdX. It is taught by UC Berkely professors. I was wondering if anyone has done AP courses with EdX? Is it good?
Thank you!
I haven’t done any AP exams but I’ve taken some SAT subject tests.
I find it’s really just best to find a robust prep book and learn off of those. Because the material tested on the test and the material provided in those books are pretty much the same. Also, I assume practice tests are available for AP tests. Take some of those as you progress.
My son self-studied English Language & Composition, and Psychology AP tests—and he clepped out of Chemistry. This was 2 years ago, he picked out study books and took the tests. Don’t know about the EdX, but I know taking the tests and scoring well can be done!
In addition to the prep books, there are wonderful websites that AP teachers create for their classes; just google around and you’ll find them - with outlines, quizzes, videos, podcasts.
