Self-Studying AP Tests as a Junior

Hello,

I will be a junior in fall 2015 and I want to self study for the AP Comp. Sci exam and the English Language And Comp. exam. And maybe US Govt or History. I’m totally new to this so how would I do this? Do I get books likw Barrons, Princeton, etc? I also just signed up for the AP Comp Sci course on a website called EdX. It is taught by UC Berkely professors. I was wondering if anyone has done AP courses with EdX? Is it good?

Thank you!

I wouldn’t self study APUSH, it’s usually rigorous as a class so I can’t imagine self studying. The APUSH exam also just changed this year so you wouldn’t have a whole lot of practice material to work with. If you do self study APUSH, I would use AMSCO, REA Crash Course, and Adam Norris YouTube videos. US Govt is much more feasible, people at my school use REA Crash Course to self study US Govt. Only self study English Lang if you already have strong writing skills, because the benefit of the class is constantly practicing timed essays with a teacher to accurately grade them. Cliffs is great for Lang, it has a terms glossary and many essay topics to practice. I have no knowledge of AP Comp Science or EdX, sorry. Good luck!

@katiaxo Alright, I’ll check those books out! Thanks for your reply!
