I hear many opinions about the UMass Amherst campus. I have heard many say the campus and its buildings (including dorms) are very run-down, ugly, and in dire need of repairs.

Is there anyone in this forum who can give an honest assessment of the campus?

I’m not going to lie, UMass is a concrete jungle and the campus as a whole is not good looking. I wouldn’t say the campus is extremely ugly but the campus is not attractive either. However, there is always construction on campus and the new buildings that are built are pretty good looking.

I don’t go there and have only visited but I think the campus is relatively pretty for a large school. The setting is pretty. There’s a pond in the middle. Many of the buildings are in trees and along the hills. Some of the buildings are big concrete things - notably the student center, which is full of life - but others aren’t. It looks a lot like other big schools, neither postcard pretty nor disgusting.
