<p>Apparently… if the URM hook was taken out of admissions decisions, everyone’s chances at acceptance would only go up .5% . For the most part, the URMs who get in are qualified (whether well-rounded or lopsided). The hook will usually only come into play when the admissions committee are comparing similar applicants. So if you lied about your race and they found out, chances are you really screwed yourself over because you might have actually got in regardless of race.</p>

<p>Lol? That person would be a “disgrace to mankind” and yet your everyday URM would not be? Aren’t we essentially doing the same thing as them in using something which has no bearing on our level of success as an unfair advantage?</p>
<p>I would put “declined”, except that my name is obviously Asian. That would be funny if I said I was half Native-American, though…</p>
<p>So how exactly do they tell that you are what you say you are? Do you need to submit proof?</p>
