If any other info is needed for gauging my chances let me know, if you could help I would appreciate it! I'm really nervous.

The under 1400 CR+math unfortunately makes all but Northeastern reaches. Even under 1500 would make HYPB substantial reaches. I’d consider a retake or trying the ACT and adding some matches to your list.

Even with the weak test scores and unimpressive ECs, Val-status counts for a lot in admissions; as long as you can successfully humanize yourself through your essays, you will be a competitive applicant at all the schools on your list. An SAT retake wouldn’t hurt, either.

And remember that you are going to need subject tests for most of your schools.

Additional Info:
I’m a Coca Cola Semifinalist
I have around 500 volunteer hours throughout hs
I’m seriously involved with two church youth groups, I volunteer at a homeless shelter, I’ve been to Europe and I hold a 20/hr per week job in the school year and a 45 hr/week job during the summer. (I still have more extra curriculars too, just not as important…
I don’t know, I know my SAT scores are rough but two/thirds of them are in the 75th percentile for those schools. Are my chances really that rough? (I’ve taken the SATIIs too, no worries)

I have been objective about this by the way, I know it’s nearly impossible. Thanks for the honesty but does that information improve things at all? I think my E.C.s are pretty strong.

Also:
I’m literary magazine editor in chief, I’ve interned at the local newspaper, I’m a serious ceramics artist as well as 2-D…

Which is, what, three times their average acceptance rate? Remember that the most important part of any application is always going to be the transcript and in that regard the OP has succeeded tremendously. (Do you know how difficult it is to maintain a perfect GPA in a 100-point system?)

Besides, that’s not to say that all other aspects of his application are abysmal. Far from it, really; his ECs won’t be considered extraordinary, but the activities he has chosen to invest himself all look to be time-intensive and he has acquired leadership roles in all of them. Additionally, all but Chicago are 2400 schools, so you should be gauging his chances with a 2170 in mind.

All this just adds that much more to the strength of your application.

Thank you! I appreciate some semblance of optimism. I know my SATs aren’t fantastic but I think I have a chance, I know my essays are good and my recommendations are excellent (a lot of them are specific teacher alumnus). I know these schools are reaches, but they seem to be for most. I’m just going to wait until April, if I get in, I get in! If not… I know I did the most I could at the public school I attend (the academics there are not strong, and it’s in a low-income city). I’ve been contacting teachers, and BC, Uchic, and northeastern are all early action so hopefully I’ll know I got into at least one before April. Thank you again. Any other feedback is welcome.
