How many hours do you study each week?

Study: That would depend on whether or not you call paper-writing studying, if not, less than 3 hours, I just don't need to!

Party: I live at home and my community college is not a party school.

School: North Hennepin Community College (www.nhcc.edu) next year I will be attending the University of Minnesota or St Cloud State.

Study: Around 20-25 hours per week, I ALWAYS have work to do...

Party:Maybe just about 10 hours per week

School:Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada

Study: About 15 hours.. but it varies week to week

Party: ..not much at all

School: Lynchburg College, Virginia

Study: Never. (Writing papers, about 1-2 hours for every 5 pages.)
Party: Never. (I prefer different pursuits. Reading, now (recreationally)... oh boy.)
School: UC-Santa Cruz, the acme of higher education. (That was sarcasm, guys.)

I study a lot, I mean I really spend almost all my free time studying...

With that being said, I'm going to a CC right now, and I think half the reason I study so much is because I want out of there. I figure that it's well working like crazy for two years (transfering in the Fall) would be worth it if I could have a second chance to get into a top notch university.

Study: 30-40 hours per week

Party: I have fun, but don't party

I go to AU

6 hours a week max usually....if by studying you also mean homework otherwise 3 hours right now(damn math class)....was about 1-2 last semester....my college is about as challenging as my freshman year of high school...then again my high school was pretty tough so maybe that's why.

Parties:0 hours usually, trying to get to parties at my school is like trying to get into the VIP room of a upscale nightclub....I never thought getting to a college party would be a uphill battle....btw kid, don't make the same mistake I did and go to carthage college unless their giving you a full ride athleteic scholarship.

Nabilah---

You go to Carleton?!

I'm a native Ottawan, a daughter of two Carleton grads (one of whom works at the university). My sister also went to Carleton. I'm not even applying, despite the free tuition!

I'm curious-- how are you liking the school and the city? Having lived here for almost 18 years I'm always curious to get an outsider's perspective on Ottawa.

I hope you're having fun here ;0)

*--R

Study? At the moment about 14-15 hours a week, though I was running a big fat zero average for the first 9 weeks of the semester. Not even doing homework.
Partying usually one night a week.
Nerdily enough, if you were to ask about my gaming and internet habits it'd be a different story. :(

September--

Jeez, thx a lot for saying that uhmm, who cares about Carleton.

Ottawa is a pretty OK city, except that I believe that even my own country (I come from a small island with a population of 1.3 million people) is more interesting.

As for Carleton, I think its quite good enough, certainly above the average people fix on it. We have lots of intelligent people around here and some of the teachers are excellent. Infrastricture is good, and we have many of facilities available to us like clubs and the recently-renovated gym. Very important fact: Carleton in the only university to have very elaborately constructed underground tunnels for winter.

By the way, which university are u haughtyly aiming at?

I barely studied through out college, well when I was at work I would study, but no more than 10-20 hours a week. Party maybe 20-30 hours a week.

Study: 50+ hours (Premed at Cornell, what can I say?)

Party: 4 hours (1 night a week)

School: Already mentioned

r u kidding? 50+ hrs? i rather go to a bad school lol

Oh! I certainly didn't mean to give the impression that I thought Carleton was beneath me at all-- it's a great school, especially for Journalism and Engineering. I'm applying for theatre, though, a program which Carleton doesn't have-- hence why I'm not applying there-- definitely not because I feel I'm "better than that" or anything!

I agree-- the tunnels are awesome. When I went to visit my mom as a kid (at the time, she was working in Dunton Tower), or when I went to sports camp there, I used to love looking at the different murals the clubs painted. It certainly beats venturing out into the Ottawa winter ;0)

I'm glad you're sort of enjoying Ottawa, and sorry about the miscommunication-- silly internet message boards.

Nowadays, since I've wised up, I study about 25 to 30 hours a week. Then again, I'm trying to transfer to somewhere like Columbia or Yale, and I had a horrible first semester in terms of grades and GPA.

As for partying, however, unless there's something I really need to get done, from about 6 or 7 PM on Friday to about 3 or 4 PM on Sunday, I do my share of partying, drinking (yes, drinking), and plenty of other forms of socializing and screwing around. I'm a freshman at the University of Kentucky.

Study: 25 hours a week
Party/Procrastination time: every waking moment outside of class but I party only one night a week
UC Berkeley

CasperloveUCs: It's not that bad...really. Cornellians study hard and play hard. I absolutely love this school despite the hard work. I'm sure Cornell's more kind if you're not premed or in engineering.

Hey September

I'm sorry for over-reacting , I actually know what it means to write something on the net (message board or chatroom) and have the other people misunderstand. Sorry about that :) It's just that I meet lotttsssssssss of people who bad-name Carleton, and that too in front of me!!

Well, yeah I guess you could say that I'm sort of enjoying Ottawa, but the thing is that I'm realy missing my home these days... :( I'm going back for summer, yeh! :D

Anyways good luck with your studies and applications...

Nabiilah

Study: 10 hours
Party: 4ish hours. depends on the weekend. and the parties.
School: Stanford.
