Hi!!
So i got in EA, and I was wondering if applying to honors LSA was worth it. Will it give me a leg up with applying to grad schools? Or is it just going to make getting a solid GPA harder?
No, it won’t necessarily give you a ‘leg up’ because grad schools will look at your grades and GRE/GMAT scores in making a decision. The Honors College does have provide you with other benefits, and is more individualised.
You get tutors and specialized study spaces, more research opportunities, and more individualized attention. That means your grad school recommendations are likely to be better because you have more opportunities to build relationships with faculty. Honors college students are often fast tracked as future academics. There really is no downside, except for the extra work.
Other schools, like engineering, have their version of honors too.
The engineering honors is very different though.
@billcho can you elaborate a bit on your comment. In what way is it different and is it worth exploring. Thx
@Knowsstuff It is more focus on research and Global experience. I think the focus has been broaden in recent years.
