Honors Chem (S117) or Regular (C117)

I was invited to take Honors Chem at IUB but I was already signed up to take C117 after my orientation. I'm a PreMed student and have a background in AP Calc, Physics, and Chem. I've read online that S117's professors teach a very Calc/Physics based Chemistry, which doesn't sound appealing (although I enjoyed Chemistry in High School). Plus, S117 is known to be a ton of extra work and difficult labs. I don't mind working harder but is it worth it or helpful for me to switch to the honors course? Especially if I'm going the premed route and it's Calc/Physics based.

(First post, sorry if this is in the wrong spot or something!)

I don’t really think it’s useful–your GPA matters more than whether you took honors Intro Chem…and S117 isn’t that easy to get an A in. Most current med students I know were in C117

For pre-meds, it is not worthwhile going after S117. All the top science students will be there. Getting an A- is not easy. The weekly lab reports are over 10 pages long. As a pre-med, you will have a lot of other stuff to worry about.

That helps a lot! Thank you!
