I'm gonna be a Neuroscience major and gonna be pre med.

I was wondering if Honors Chemistry would give me a boost in medical school admissions and if the Honors class is significantly harder than the Regular class. Stephen Craig is teaching honors, whereas Christopher Roy is teaching Regular. What are the differences in difficulty and is the honors worth it for a pre med student? Please give me the most accurate answers...

i would say go for honors, itll be more helpful in the end…but you have to work really hard at it

Unfortunately, I know nothing about honors chem. However, I can tell you that Chris Roy is an absolutely outstanding prof.

What would be the disadvantage of taking a regular course, in the context of med school admissions?

well i think you can figure it out…the admissions people may think your not as ready and might not accept you…chemistry is very hard so if the admissions people see that you did well in honors chem then that will be a plus on your app…if you did well in regular chem then they will say okay and it may not be a deal breaker, however if you think your going to get a bad grade in honors chem then definitely take regular chem

I’m only a rising freshman as well but from what I’ve learned about med school admissions by reading stuff and listening to people I would say the impact on admissions is small enough that I wouldn’t care about it. It might even be negligible because med schools don’t know what AP scores you had so they’ll just assume that regular gen chem was a logical choice if that’s what you ended up taking.
