Does anyone know when our living-learning program placement for the honors college will release? I applied to ACES as my first choice and am waiting to hear whether I got in or not
Should be by March 1st. I found out I got into ACES on Feb 27th last year (and submitted my preference form by the priority deadline).
Yeah I just got my acceptance for eip today so I think they just release decisions on like a rolling basis until march 1?
Just got the ACES email! Excited and extremely grateful for the great opportunity! (OOS, if it matters)
My Daughter got her LLP notification today too - ILS
I signed into my son’s coalition account, and see that he was placed in his fourth choice for his Honors LLP. He is at work tonight, and is going to be devastated to find this out. He is a Computer Science / Cyber security major, and ACES is his first choice program. He literally turned in his preferencing form the very night he was accepted into the Honors College on January 26th. This is the whole reason he wants to go to UMD. Deposit is paid. He would have even been happy with his 2nd choice, DCC,but 4th choice? Everything I heard from all of the students in these programs was to get your preference in right away, as that makes a difference. It obviously does not! If those who are currently placed in his top 2 choice programs do not end up attending UMD, then spots become available, correct? Is there a reconsideration process to fill those spots, and if so, someone please advise. I believe somewhere on this thread is an honors student that is in the ACES program. If this comment could be directed to them, or if any other student or parent has insight on this, please let me know. Thank you!
@some1fromVA Congrats! Can’t wait to see you! DM me if you have any questions. (I’m a current ACES freshman).
My son got his LLP assignment today - DCC. Still waiting to see whether he gets any merit aid since we are OOS and full pay.
DD got into EIP… Very happy!
@NowTerp, one thing is to have your son contact one the the directors or other appropriate administrators for ACES and let them know of his strong interest in ACES and that he would appreciate being on a waitlst for openings in the program. (https://aces.umd.edu/faculty-staff). Can’t hurt. This process is so full of ups and downs. Best of luck.
@einyfine do they actually have waitlists? I got into gemstone but I was hoping for ILS. Do you think emailing could actually change anything? I’m desperate
@alwaysnervous I do not know if they have wait lists but if my son did not get into one of his top choices for LLP I was going to have him do that, or even make a phone call to someone in the honors program, not to act entitled, or complain, but to ask about if there is a process for switching or getting wait listed into a preferred LLP. It’s extra work to be in a LLP so I think it needs to be of value to the student otherwise I was going to actually suggest he not participate and put his energy towards something he would find meaningful as well as challenging, and that would still allow him to connect with other students. Fortunately he got what he wanted. What can it hurt to ask questions, right?
I did not get an email but I checked Coalition and got my first choice (University Honors)
