Im literally checking my inbox every 5-6 hours to see if I get any kind of notification about the Honors College or merit scholarships.. I have got them at some equivalent and even more reputed and well ranking universities but not here? I would like to consider UIUC but for that Im not paying that much!! (International Student)
I have sent many emails requesting information, but not a single reply!! This is rather disappointing when due to this students with good stats, who are interested in UIUC will have to turn to other colleges...
I have 35 ACT, all A+'s (Overall), Class topper (Valedictorian) but nothing?? Feel disappointed after working so hard all my life..

Would like to know whether there is anybody who shares this or has any information they can share..

@mehta93: I am in-state, same stats as you, NM winner, etc. and got $0 from UIUC. We’re broke here in Illinois. I’m not expecting anything from UIUC, and I think it’s all been disbursed by now. I may be wrong, but that’s what I am hearing.

Hard to say yes to UIUC when many private institutions and other public state unis have provided more generous finaid offers.

Really?
Must be a bummer! and a surprise, since you have good stats and moreover your in-state!!
And I agree, even when one wants to attend UIUC they can’t because somewhere they can’t afford the high cost of attendance or they are disappointed that the university has been unable to recognize their hard work and in turn them.

It was good to know that someone shares the same feeling and that I’m not the only one who feels that they are just someone accepted with good enough scores…

Same stats here, and so far, zero financial aid or scholarships from them… But like what was said earlier, this is Illinois. The state senators and representatives are allowed to hand out an Illinois full-ride to one of their cronies’ kids each year. At the expense of schools. Stuff like that makes it hard to give out financial support. (Though I’m still holding onto hope for the NMF scholarship until April 1st…)

If it makes you feel any better, Campus Honors Programs announcements were made last year on April 4th. It’ll probably be a similar date this year. No letters have been sent out yet. (Trust me, I’ve spent hours researching this on the web. haha)

My D received her invite to the CHP in today’s snail mail - 125 students out of the class of 7,000 the letter says… and the program includes a merit scholarship of $500 ($250 per semester) though for the first year only. Right after the news of that windfall is revealed the next sentence reads “The University of Illinois is still a great value for in-state students to attend.” (The UIUC website lists the COA for incoming IN-STATE biology majors for 2012-13 at $33,922 :p)

only ~10 oos are slated to get CHP. so you may not see one post here. but they are out there. for oos it’s worth $10,000/yr for first two years.
