University of Mississippi is one of my safety schools right now(that I would still be very happy to attend!) and I was wondering if the honors college has a LAC feel. Going to school at Ole Miss would be much more affordable than the LAC’s I’ve had my eyes on for quite a while.
Questions:
-What is the school vibe in general?
-Will I feel alienated if I don’t partake in the Greek system?
-Does this college have a good writers community?
Thanks!
@macyk1024 The Honors College provides exactly what you are describing. A small, private LAC feel on a larger SEC Flagship college campus. With about 1,300 students it provides a smaller atmosphere with class sizes of 20-25 students in Honors courses. You have an Honors thesis to complete along with a variety of other experiential opportunities. Being in the Greek system isn’t an issue in Honors. This year’s Miss Ole Miss is a non-Greek, African American mechanical engineering Honors student. Oxford has a thriving creative writing program and the town is famous for literature. So, you’d be good there. Please check out the links below that may be associated with your interests!
