okay don’t kill me for this… but would signing up to live in the honors house be social suicide? Because the academic opportunities would be really nice, but I also like to party, and i don’t really want to be classified as a nerd or whatever just because of where I love. Anyone have any experience with the Medeiros House and the people that live there?

Umm. Medeiros is right on Upper Campus with the rest of the freshmen, albeit those who live on Newton. It won't be social suicide if you choose to stay inside all day.

I'm not an honors student nor did I even live on Upper Campus my freshman year, but living in Medeiros is by no means social suicide. I knew a couple of honors kids living in Medeiros and they came out and partied all the time. The only drawback I would say, is that the RA's in Medeiros would definitely be stricter in enforcing noise violations and stuff like that since the honors kids will definitely want peace and quiet in their dorm. Basically, you can meet plenty of people and party elsewhere.

For other Honors Program students, how many of you are living in the regular housing? That's what I chose because I requested to room with another girl from my high school who is not in the Honors Program. I'm hoping I won't miss too many opportunites by not living in the Honors House, but I also thought regular housing might expose me to a wider variety of people. I'd be interested to know what you guys are doing :)

I am not living in Honors housing

just wondering, why not?

i guess the main reason is that unlike many of you guys, i want to live on Newton.

I lived in the honors house, and actually my RA was the coolest about noise and stuff - she just assumed we would confront each other about any problems we had. And I also liked it cause it guaranteed I wouldn't live on Newton. Of course thats always the debate, whether Newton is better than Upper, but I liked having less than a 5 min walk to class
