Can someone please tell me the pros and cons of Medeiros? I’m having a really hard time deciding whether or not I want honors housing.

if i was in the honors program, i probably wouldnt do medeiros. while the set-up is REALLY cool and different, you already take most of your classes with honors kids and will get to know them very well over the four years. i would want to meet everyone.. have friends within the honors program and outside of it. theres 3 girls in my hall who are in honors that (obviously) didnt do honors housing and theyre happy to live on newton and get to know everyone.

i think it would be a little much to live with people and have the majority of your classes with them too, really limits the amount of people you become close with IMO

Dear nesh1080 : The layout in Medeiros is very different from any other dorm with a townhouse feel and a great common area on the first floor. The three parts of Medeiros (A, B, and C) each had their own flavor this year - it varies from year-to-year based on the residents and it is not exclusively Honors Students although they do get preference. Yes, the studying in Medeiros is more focused than in the other dorms - not necessarily a bad thing.

There is a common misconception that people "might not want to live with the classmates in Honors". Truth be told, if you are in Honors, there will only be fifteen people in your section and they are mixed from all over campus. There are literally several hundred people in Medeiros so it is as diverse a population as other dorms.

The upper floor in Medeiros can be warm and you'll wish that the skylights opened to release the heat. Fans can be running in the windows until November and start again in April.
