honors housing for sophomores

Hey i was just wondering if there is a chance to get into west C or F as a fill in with a lotto number of 4600…also what would be the next best option?
ty!

For my sophomore year, my lottery number was so low that I didn’t actually get to pick my housing. I put down my preferences and it was assigned. I did get into West C (had West F as my first choice, C as second), so there’s definitely hope.

4600 is pretty solid - the range goes to 7500 this year. Since sophomores have the worst numbers, you’ll be in the top 600-800ish which, given that no housing preferences are given to honors, should put you in a great position.

(My number is in the 6000’s)

thank you!

Also does anyone know how the random vs group sign up works? I’m getting kind of confused

If you want to pick your housing, you will need to have a group: when the first person in the group picks, they list the others as roommates and they are looped in. All groups (a group is filling a complete apartment, so it can be a single person if there’s only one spot left in an apartment) get to choose before any individuals, so waiting until all groups have gone will not yield good results.

Alright thank you!

One last thing (sorry lol) - so If there are 5 in my group, and only 4 person apartments are left, I can fill into an apartment with an empty space and can fill the other four into a 4 person suite?

No worries! You can only fill one apartment. If there’s only 4 person apartments left, you won’t be able to get all 5 people together. That said, Dav offers a lot of good 5 options and are usually available pretty late. 4600 should be good enough to get you that at least.

Dav is a good option in general but generally not as popular because of its location (across the orange line and marginally further from the main part of campus). But with ISEC opening up across the street, I think it will feel more like a part of campus as well.

I mean we are in IV right now so isolation is already a part of the experience. So I just have to hope for the best. Will there still be spots in west village c/f after the group filling that I could get into possibly?

C/F doesn’t have many (if any?) 5 person apartments. I don’t know the honors housing process specifically, but the Honors kids I know of didn’t have any problems getting into C/F. I would be cautiously optimistic about C/F (check in about the 5’s) and make sure to have backup plans ready.

They have a few and this has already come up in the group discussion. I think the plan is to boot me if there are none left. That’s why I’m curious about the solo vs group thing

What steps do I take if I get kicked? They all have really bad lotto numbers- I don’t want to screw them over even if they want to kick Me lol

Solo is really not a good option. If you really think that is the case, I would look for an alternate group. As far as helping them, you can’t pick for them unless you are in the group - so if they want your lotto number, they can’t kick you out of the group.

Someone told them that because the other 4 are scholars they are guaranteed honors housing in west c/f so I don’t think it really matters. I’ll look around for a group though. Thanks so much for the advice!

Hey sorry to return to the thread, but what are my chances of filling into an apartment in west c or f as an individual @nanotechnology @PengsPhils , considering they are for second year honors students? Thanks for the advice!

@pedestrian1123 Very, very low. I didn’t deal with the honors housing lottery though, so it may be slightly better than the rest of campus. Still, I would highly recommend against it.
