honors housing?

what exactly does it mean to be in a CHP hall?

it says, "These halls are committed to providing students with an atmosphere conducive to study and academic excellence. In addition to programming around academics, the students in these halls agree to special community standards in order to support the academic efforts of fellow residents."

does it mean no talking after 10pm or that sort of thing? what else does it entail? i cant decide whether i want to be in a CHP hall or not. help!

I'm not completely informed on how halls work, but my teacher who graduated from EE at UCI said it didn't matter. However, CHP halls are specific for CHP students so you'll be living with other CHP students. This would be nice because everyone around you would be into their academics.

I lived in the CHP hall in Mesa Court last year, Loma. No one agrees to not talk after 10 or something but generally people are a little more nerdy, there are less parties and stuff (at least my year), etc. Although I don't think that means that they're less social. But we never agreed to specific community standards in order to promote academics or something, idunno where they got that line from. Also, since everyone (or almost everyone) in the hall is CHP, you might end up going to CHP events and/or having the same honors core classes together so you probably would have more people in your hall who had the same class(es) as you compared with another hall.

It was cool, but it woulda been fine to live in a regular hall too. They both have advantages. Your call.
