I’m an applicant for the FSU Honors Program and Presidential Scholarship. I’d like this thread to be a forum for other applicants to discuss the application process. Who else applied for the Honors Program/Presidential Scholarship?
Pretty sure that everyone who applied for honors is under consideration for the Presidential Scholarship.
I did!
Awesome? What do you intend to major in? And what are your stats, if I may ask?
I applied as well!
In-State Resident
Major: Biology with Pre-Med Track
SAT: 1500 (780 Math 720 CRW)
ACT: 34
UW GPA: 3.91
FSU W GPA: 4.85
Also applied for the Honors Medical Scholars program so I’ll be reviewed for that if I get accepted into Honors first. Really hoping to get an interview to go up to Tallahassee in April. My birthday is that weekend so it would be a nice gift.
Good luck to anyone else applying!
I’m planning on majoring in history! Stats:
In-state resident
Major: history
SAT: 1240
ACT: 31
UW GPA: 3.98
W GPA: 4.48
I’m graduating a few credits short of my AA degree through dual enrollment.
@thestarryknight
@Ella582
Wish you guys all the best, hope we all get in! Feel like this admissions process has been such a longgg journey. Btw, my stats are:
Out of State
SAT: 1510 (770 Math 740 CRW)
FSU GPA: 4.97
Major: Civil Engineering
Not sure if I had the right tone in my essays though. How did you guys find the topics/writings? Were your essays formal or relaxed?
@arese97 omg same! I submitted all my apps back in early October so it feels like it just keeps dragging on and on.
I went more formal than relaxed, overall. most of my essays were about my interest in history + creative writing, although I tried to round them out so it didn’t seem like that was all I could talk about haha
@arese97 , I tried to develop my passions and personality in the essays more than anything. I discussed my love of running and joining Seminole Striders, my interest in Biological Anthropology and Biotechnology (I want to be a pediatrician so I mentioned that application), personal academic struggles and character growth, and my course I had to design centered around freedom of speech in a college setting. Each essay was kinda unique but my common tie was an emphasis on how important finding a great community to be surrounded by is for me.
I wouldn’t call them formal or casual, they were purposeful and just really summed up me.
I hope we all get in too, I want the College process to end. It’s way too stressful! :((
My son applied. OOS 35 ACT, 1540 SAT, 3.9 UW GPA. Anyone have a guess as to when scholarship weekend invites may go out?
March 6, I believe
I applied!
In-state resident
ACT: 31
SAT: 1370
I don’t know my FSU GPA so I can’t give that, unfortunately. 4.0 UW, 4.5W
Major: classical civilizations/studies
I’m a finalist!!!
Congrats to you thestarryknight! Were you notified via email today (Tuesday, March 6)? I’m asking because my daughter is at school. I’d like her to check her phone.
@fsudad2022 I logged on to the actual application portal for the presidential scholars
My son just got an email admitting him to Honors and naming him as a Presidential Finalist!
Admissions indicated that the minimum SAT score for the Freshman Scholarship was a 1410 with no exceptions. How did people with lower than that still get the scholarship and also get into Honors? (Perhaps they were National Merit but a NMS would have a high SAT.)
My D got an email today admitting her to Honors and she is also a Presidential Finalist. Anyone know how many make Finalist and how many scholarships get awarded?
I also received the email with an honors acceptance and was named a Presidential Scholar Finalist! See you guys in Tallahassee!
@leolion5 , the ACT score can also be equivalent to a 1420 or above. Honors is holistic, scores get you in the door but the essays are what really matter.
