So I was accepted into Bentley on Early App and got myself a nice little scholarship. I didn’t make it in to honors program for freshman year, but does anyone know how to get in after that?

Per the Bentley web site

Admission

There is no formal application process for admission into the Honors Program. All prospective students are initially considered for the program in conjunction with their application to Bentley. Approximately the top 8 to 10 percent of incoming freshmen are invited to join the program upon acceptance to Bentley, and will receive the invitation as part of the acceptance package. There are no specific criteria which are used to determine who is invited to participate. Academic factors that may be considered for admission are high school class rank, course rigor, GPA, AP test scores, and SAT/ACT placement scores among other factors. However, in general the program seeks out motivated, academically strong, and well-rounded students with leadership potential. Moreover, many honors students are involved in extra-curricular activities, community service, and/or athletics.

Students not initially invited into the program with strong academic records and a desire to be challenged may also apply for admission to the program during their first year of courses at Bentley. For more information, contact the director of the Honors Program.

I can tell you my son is finishing his Soph year at Bentley. He was not chosen for Honors on admission although he graduated high school with very high grades. After his first semester at Bentley he obtained high grades and sought admission. to the Honors program. He was accepted and has taken many Honors courses and is doing very well in them. He has had excellent Honors professors. [His non honors professors have been excellent as well]. You will be motivated and inspired to participate and achieve to your full potential attending Bentley. You will also be prepared as a student and future employee. Bentley has a fantastic well deserved top ranked career planning center. The advisors both Honors and non Honors have provided input and guidance. They also give resume help and just about all other types of interview prep and career planning guidance. On campus interviews and job listings are constant. Yes he has a job for the summer 2014. [Obtained from applying and interviewing on campus then off]. While it is not mandatory to be in the Honors program, if you obtain good grades as a freshman I highly recommend it to challenge yourself and benefit from that program as well as all other aspects of Bentley academics and student life.

My daughter just finished her freshman year. She was not invited into the Honors program with her acceptance , however applied after her first semester. She was accepted and has been very happy to be a part of the program. Other than the stated benefits from the school, she became frends and worked close with other Honors program students. They tend to be in the same classes thus work close together. She would highly recommend the Honors program.

Getting in, You will need two recomendations from teachers and have to submitte a writing sample. I believe it may come from class work. You will need to achieve a solid GPA as well. It was my daughters understanding some that applied did not get invited.

Bentley is a special place!
