Honors Program

I’ve been accepted to the honors program at Mizzou and now I’m wondering if I should be a part of it or not. Is it a lot more work to be in the honors program? Will I still have a lot of time for a social life? Also for housing, do you have to live in the honors housing or is it just recommended?

From Mizzou’s website:
To be an Honors College member in good standing, you must:
:black_medium_small_square:Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (3.5 for students entering Fall 2014)
:black_medium_small_square:Graduate with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 (3.5 for students entering Fall 2014)
:black_medium_small_square:Complete at least 20 hours of honors credit
:black_medium_small_square:Complete two courses a year for your first two years
:black_medium_small_square:Be an upstanding citizen of the University of Missouri, acting in accordance with MU’s Statement of Values.

It also says you have the option of living in the honors residential community, but it is not required.

Of course, I am old as dirt, but when I was an undergraduate at Mizzou the two most life-altering classes that I took (and I took a lot of classes because I kept changing my major) were an honors sociology course and a honors humanities course! I think the Honors College is a place to find your niche on a big campus. You can chose to do as much or as little with the Honors College as you see fit. I would definitely go for it!?!
