Hi! Not really sure which category my question would fall under, so sorry if this is in the wrong section. I am a member of the class of 2017 and I have been accepted into Mizzou. Not only that, but I have also been accepted into the journalism school (my intended major) for my freshman year. Finally, I was accepted into the honors college. My question is this: would it be more beneficial for me to take up residency within the Mark Twain hall with the journalism students or in the Honors hall?
Sorry if I was unclear or used incorrect terminology. Any answers are greatly appreciated, especially from Mizzou students or alumni who are in the field of journalism and/or are in the Honors college.
Congratulations, @Nectarine54, on your admission to the school of journalism at Mizzou. It is a very selective and getting accepted is a major accomplishment. My DD graduated from Mizzou last year with a degree in Journalism - because of AP and CLEP credits, she was able to graduate in three years. She was in the honors program, but decided not to live in Mark Twain hall and lived in Schurz. I believe that she would say that not living in the honors hall allowed her to meet students from other majors.
My daughter is a soon to be Junior who was also a direct admit into the J- School, Honors College Student and a Walter Williams Scholar. She made a choice not to live in the Walter Williams Residence or Honors dorms but rather in the regular dorms. She was going to join a sorority and wanted to experience all of the different areas of freshman year. I think she was happy with her decision but she did say a few times she wished she was closer to the students in the Walter Williams program. She has tons of friends in many areas of campus. You are going to love Mizzou and the J-school!
