Alright so I decided to pick up the honors program at citrus college, and really work towards transferring to a decent UC. I have a couple questions regarding the honors program hopefully somebody can help me with. First, It more than likely I’m not going to be able to meet with the honors counselor at citrus before registering for classes since everything is booked and I’ve tried with no success to make an appointment, so is meeting the counselor after registration okay? would I be missing out on important info? Second, since I’m a freshman, do I get the Honors Priority registration or does that kick in after finishing a semester with all the GPA requirements? How do I get 30 community service hours? Looking at the courses I’ve planned out, there aren’t enough Honors courses to fulfill the 5 honors courses required to complete the program, a lot of the honors courses listed on the igetc isn’t offered at citrus, what do I do?

No idea, what are the requirements of your program? At SMC they badgered you until you went and saw a counselor. How detailed is your honors website?
- "Second, since I'm a freshman, do I get the Honors Priority registration or does that kick in after finishing a semester with all the GPA requirements?"
Again, based on my experience at SMC, it kicked in the next registration time (i.e I entered and took Honors courses in Spring 2014, but didn’t get priority registration until the Fall)
- "How do I get 30 community service hours?"
Find an org that you support, or student groups, and do 30 hours of community service. Figure out/ask how to track them, and get them done early.
- "Looking at the courses I've planned out, there aren't enough Honors courses to fulfill the 5 honors courses required to complete the program, a lot of the honors courses listed on the igetc isn't offered at citrus, what do I do?"
If you don’t complete the program, you don’t get the benefit of priority consideration. So that means you need to change your current plan.
well I met with a regular counselor already, but the honors coordinator told me to meet with the honors counselor. Would volunteering for a presidential candidates’ campaign count? I’m looking into that since the presidential race is getting started, and there’s a candidate that I’d really want to support. I’ve adjusted my plan and there’s now enough honors courses, didn’t consider the availability of honors classes during certain semesters. I think I asked this before, but I’m still not clear on the whole double major thing, do I work toward a double major now or after I am admitted into a 4 year college?
I believe you need a term under your belt before you can register for honors (i.e. a certain minimum established GPA).
You do not declare a double major until you transfer, but you can always get pre-reqs completed, just so you have them at the ready.
