Honors Program

@Locomadre Ah, that makes me nervous. What information was included in the letter she received?

I know what’s not in that letter… tuition is going up 4.55% next year.

Hope they’re figuring that in when they calculate our need.

@paige13 The letter included the total financial package (no need), which is always funny to me because it includes the $10k merit scholarship and then the stafford and parent plus loans to make up the difference.

@JerseyParents Good point!! I’m thinking they aren’t taking that into consideration when awarding their $10k, $15k, etc. scholarships.

@Locomadre Did you receive a specific NO to the faculty scholarship? I ask because today I received this in response to a question on awards…

ME: are faculty scholarship awards letters being sent out separately or as part of the overall award?

THEM: If you are receiving a Merit Scholarship, you should receive a separate letter from your award letter that comes from Student Financial Services.

@JerseyParents Hmmmmm . . . .There still may be hope? Thanks for the update! Keep me posted if anything comes in your mail!!

Abandon ye all hope…
according to his admission rep :

“Yes, if an admitted freshman was selected as a Faculty Scholar they will have been notified by this time This year was extraordinarily competitive with 1, 011 admitted freshmen meeting the minimum criteria for consideration”.

Thanks @JerseyParents for the update! I’ll stop checking the mailbox!

Is the general merit and the named/faculty scholarship stackable?

@Propinquity4444 They are not stackable.

S initially received 10K merit and then got FA letter today that had an additonal grant plus work study, Parent Plus, etc. Is that it now? No more scholarships after the FA letter arrives? Just making sure:)

That’s it @Propinquity4444 Here’s two things you need to know… Work Study jobs are hard to get. Just because you’re approved doesn’t mean you’ll find one (plus on campus pays only $7.10 an hour) Second thing is that grant you receive as a freshman may disappear for subsequent years - even if your family finances don’t change.
