Why should I want to be in the Honors Program? What makes it different from just getting a normal degree?

For one thing, your transcripts and diploma will state that you have a "honors" degree. That by itself counts for something.

Furthermore, you will be taking most of your classes with fellow Honors students. The average Honors student graduated from HS in the top 5% of his/her class with a 4.0 unweighed GPA and a 1500 on the SAT. So the competition is a little tougher than if you take classes with the general population.

But you will get an equally good education either way and a Michigan degree, honors or otherwise, is extremely respected.

also, i was under the impression that you write a senior thesis as an undergraduate as an Honors student.
