We've stayed at the Iberville suites in the French Quarter which we liked. We've also stayed several times at the Embassy suites which is a few blocks outside the quarter in the warehouse district which I like alot. Emerils is down the street as well as some interesting restaurants and music clubs. It's also easier to get back and forth to Tulane being outside the quarter and a little closer to the Garden District.

staying at a B&B. Is anyone else getting multiple emails each week from Tulane?

I'll be going the second weekend, with my dad - the 30/31st. I'll actually be there for the Thurs and Fri before also, since that week is my Spring Break. Anyone have any recommendations for what we should check out in New Orleans?

I don't know if I'll be doing the overnight hosting - does anyone have an opinion one way or the other about it?

There's a really nice Hampton Inn on St Charles Avenue right on the trolley line to the school (it's apparently open again!).

Better free breakfast than most and quite nice inside. Also free, somewhat secured parking. Easy drive to campus. We took the trolley once (the spring before Katrina). It's also an easy drive to the French Quarter from there as well, or again, you can take the trolley.

They have Tulane rates there, or at least have before. It's a great place to stay for move-in also because of the secured, free parking and location.
Hard to beat a free breakfast--makes the mornings go smoother.

But if your hotel doesn't offer free breakfast (or even if it does) - don't miss the Camillia Grill on Carrolltown Ave. It's worth waiting on line for.

Is Camillia Grill open again? Last time we were there (I think it was Sept.06) it was closed. :(

Yes it's open again. I was there last October during parents weekend. It's wonderful - just like before. The food is great and the guys behind the counter are real characters.

i believe im going the 2nd weekend and also to destination tulane the friday before, march 28th! SO PUMPED!!! what would you sugegst I do in my free time to experience NOLA to its full potential!?!?!

That's hard to say just because there's SO MUCH TO DO!!! Breakfeast at cafe dumond (French Quarter) is a must!! Incredible begnets that easily get addictive. During the day, the French Quarter is just an awesome place to walk around because it's so different from any other neighborhood in America. At night, though, party it up on Bourbon Street. I'm going down for the second honors weekend, too (getting in Saturday night, leaving Monday evening) and I cannot wait!
