Hopkins versus Emory

I'll try to keep this plain and simple. Obviously, I have been accepted to both schools and am now forced to make a really tough decision. Hopkins will cost 44k a year; Emory will cost 33k year because I got a small scholarship to accompany some financial aid. In a nutshell, Hopkins=big loans and Emory=small loans. My intended major is Biology. There is a possibility I might end up being pre-med, but as of right now, I am leaning towards getting my PhD in microbiology or some other biological discipline. I visited Hopkins and thought it was BEAUTIFUL and really enjoyed it. I will be taking part in the open house at Emory on the 23rd. I'm really excited for that, as well. Comments? Advice?

p.s. WashU was immediately cast out because of giving NO aid. It was going to be almost 54k a year. Why do people tout them as a school with generous financial aid!? lol Just sayin!

Go to Emory… The academic difference is pretty non existant and Emory is offering you more money… and at Emory, you can balance work and play… I hear Hopkins is more intense and a GPA killer! If you have specific questions about Emory, PM me… both are great for biology btw.

Which one would it be easier to get started into research pretty early on in the game? I really want to do a lot of research in my four years.

Both have great research opportunities … Emory has the CDC right near campus and theres the Emory hospital which has a great reputation. I’m not sure about Hopkins but from what I hear, its research opportunities are great as well.

Which one do you think would be more inviting to gay males? I hope that isn’t a dumb question; I know that there isn’t really a definite answer to it. I’m just wondering.
