Horrible SAT scores, one more test as a senior!

I am under immense pressure. For the universities I want to apply to, a 2000 SATis necessary to be competitive. Right now my October SAT scores came in and I am 200 points short of my goal So, what can I do to fix that in rather limited time?

Here are my two SAT scores thus far.

What would be the quickest way for me to break the 2000 benchmark? I am willing to give up my life to dominate this stupid exam.

Writing and Math.

Math- continuously work on problems. Look through blue book guide to get yourself some idea of general ‘question types’ that ETS loves. Be thorough at using your calculator- be aware of how to use your programs. Even you don’t know how to solve question mathematically, plug-in-chuck by using calcualtor helps alot. Within a month, with a lot of practice, you can break 650.

Writing- Essay: Just write a lot. They certainly look at your idea and coherence of your essay, but length plays a huge role. (As soon as I saw the essay topic of the Oct test, I had no clue what I had to write, so I just BSed with examples of Lost Generation, Shakespear plays. I couldn’t organize my idea well, so prefered quantity to quality. I got 12.- trust me. My essay sucks…)

Writing question types are very limited. Familiarize yourself to those question types, such as misplaced modifiers, comma splice, et cetura. Once you become familiar with the question types, without even reading a whole sentence, you can see what the question asks you to do.

I did not so well on my Oct sat, but I’m pretty sure this would help you.

Good luck :)

Practice. I “enrolled at an SAT course”. I never listened. It was an 8 day crash course that taught me nothing. What it did, however, was make me do one every day. Yeah. That helped HEAPS. You get so good at doing it, it’s amazing.

Thanks, but I don’t think I have the luxury to afford a course (1000 dollars for 1 week near me)… What would be the best method to increase my score via self study? I am enrolled on the online official SAT course as of now.

Bump10char

I improved about 200 points in three weeks by doing the following:
-writing a practice essay EVERY DAY, timed of course
-reviewing simple math concepts
-studying grammar rules (this helped the most-my writing section went up 100 alone)
-practicing critical reading sections over and over and over and over. The CR section on a SAT is completely different from a test you would get in high school english class. It requires a different type of thinking. You need to be extremely analytical and you need to always pick the BEST answer (that means you should read each choice before picking one!) and you need proof from the text to back it up.

-do a SAT practice test, timed, once or twice a week and going over what you got wrong
