Horseshoe Housing for upperclassman Honors?

I’m in the honors college hoping to live on the horse shoe next year (as a junior!) Has anyone had an experience with this and have any advice or any horror stories/good stories/ anything? I am very social and in a sorority and like to go out but want to be on campus and involved in the school and stay focused! Apartment life was too distracting but I want social/normal roomates on the horseshoe. Thanks!

My D lived in honors housing on Horseshoe every year but freshman year. It was before they redid Rutledge, but she loved it. Close to everything. Did most of own meals and save a ton of money. Gameday was great the years they had it at USC. They had a good mix of roommate time where did things together and of time going their own way and doing own thing. Two roommates were in sorority. They had friends in several other apartments in same building and had some group dinners, parties, etc. Laundry was inconvenient but I think that has changed with renovations.

My D is a junior who was offered Horseshoe for this year (wanted it sophomore year but couldn’t get in). She was in a 2-person apartment at 650 Lincoln for 2nd year, and they’re pretty spacious. After getting accustomed to having that much space, she and her friends thought it might be a tough transition into smaller quarters on the Horseshoe, especially since the kitchens are tiny and the units have only one bathroom (usually? always?).

But the location is amazing, so definitely enter the lottery if you might be interested. You can always change your mind if you think it won’t be a good fit after all.
