I am a High school junior. Planning to apply for Combined BS/MD and/or Ivy league schools. Right now I passed my state competitions and qualified for both HOSA Nationals(http://nlc.hosa.org/) and TSA Nationals(<a href=“Recent National TSA Conferences”>Recent National TSA Conferences). Unfortunately both 4 day events are overlapping 2 days. That means I can attend only one of them even though I love both. I am very optimistic that I will do better in both the events. Not sure which one to choose. I have to let my teachers know my decision before EOD Apr 6th 2014. Can our experience posters help me (before EOD Apr 6th 2014) answer this question “Which one holds value when I apply for BS/MD or IVY school? HOSA or TSA?”. Thank you for your time and assistance in advance.

Doesn’t matter. Honestly, I’ve never heard of either of those organizations. Brown admissions officers probably have, but won’t have the idea that one is “better” than the other. Top schools just want to see that you’re involved in something, and being in any national competition will be a good sign.

Having been through the BSMD process, I wouldn’t say either has a huge advantage over the other. More important than what you do is what you gain from it, so choose the on that means more to you and you’re more likely to learn something from

Thank you so much for the response.
