I am going away to Mexico next week, staying with a host family (I have very limited information about them, pretty much just the name of a woman and an address). Any ideas for a small gift, perhaps from my home state of Delaware, or something related to Philadelphia maybe?

I brought my family a small basket of local foods (pumpkin butter, huckleberry taffy, smoked salmon) and a candle. Another family I met brought out a coffee table book with pictures of Portland and Oregon that their host-student had brought 20 years before, so it must’ve been a hit. Perhaps something like that (obvi with a Delaware twist)?

It’s always nice to bring something from your home country (in this case, state… Delaware).

My sister made her French host family a quilt.
