Hot today

Anybody had a afternooon final today in a non-air-conditioned building? I feel for you guys.

I bet their professor canceled their final because it was so hot, and just watched a movie instead.

I was dying today. I guess the Global Warming omen is not just a rumor.

My mom calls this "shake and bake" weather.

I had an afternoon final in nice, air-conditioned Stanley Hall. Mmmm.

... tomorrow I have one in Wheeler. Sigh.

Stanley was sweet. Walking down to Haas Pavilion was like traveling through hell. It was a little windy today...hot winds that is.

So true...especially in Socal, unseasonably hot, dry, windy weather is called "earthquake weather". I use that term quite often.

I remember when I graduated from College of Chemistry, the Bay Area had a record heat wave...the grad ceremony was at 2 pm on the sunny Chemistry concrete plaza...we baked in our black gowns and mortar boards...I think Berkeley reached a record 107 that year.

Wait, ucbchem, was that the summer of 2006?
Today was pretty close, I think the high was 98 or 99 degrees.

im suffocating here as we speak. But I spent the day in soda hall. Ah, the pleasures of being in CS..... :)

even the ****ing wind was hot...
Zephuros was angry

I had two finals today...

I nearly died .................

I have a low tolerance for high temperature. I almost suffocated during the Bio 1A final.

Me too, tastysteak.

really? Haas pavilion today morning was quite cool. But 172 questions were definitely not cool under any conditions.
Tastysteak?

I forgive him, when I see "beef" I think of "steak" too. :p

Man, Haas Pavilion was stifling today. I sat between some big people though, so that might have been the cause.

But yeah, 172 questions, so long. I can see that Rine ran out of ideas and just recycled all the old questions that everyone missed on the midterm. Of course, he still wrote a few tricky new questions. That sly fox.

Yeah, Rine is like that though. I find Schlissel's part the most annoying. I feel like his questions test whether you memorized all the small details.
Firestone is awesome though. I wish the whole Bio 1A was taught by him. It would take so much stress from the course. And we could actually learn something.
But anyways, I'm glad the course is over. Seriously, though, I found Bio 1A/AL to be the hardest course I have taken at Cal up to this point. How about you tastybeef?

Yeah, Schlissel's part was tough. Definitely a lot of small details in his part, but I think that's the same with Firestone's questions. Those first few questions from Firestone were relatively easy to recall, then everything gets a little messy once the long problems started to appear. But in all, Firestone's lectures were the most enjoyable. I think I liked his part because they were actually applicable to real-life, things that you can relate to.

No doubt Bio 1A/1AL are the hardest courses that I have taken so far. They make the Chem 3 series seem so much easier, especially for the labs. It kinda sucks, because I have lost a lot of interest in biology after Bio 1A/1AL. It feels like they are training us to be researchers when a big majority of us don't really plan to go into research. For example, some of the questions on the midterms are so theoretical and research oriented that they seem downright obscure.

Well, I was thinking since you cook beef to make steak... and with the weather being hot and all... yeah.

They have finals in Haas Pavilion? How does that work?!

I graduated in 2000 (can't believe its already been 8 years)...ever since my graduation I noticed the College of Chemistry has reserved Zellerbach auditorium for graduation ceremonies...I imagine Zellerbach is air conditioned...;)
