Hey there, I am waitlisted for 11th grade, and I have no idea how competitive the wait list is. Is anybody else who is on the same boat as me?

Well, there is no competition on the waitlist. Assuming not enough kids enroll, then the AO’s go to the waitlist. However, seeing as you applied for grade 11, kids usually will enroll and the wait list is rarely used anyways. I would suggest you not expect anything from the waitlist and just move on.

If u have a bird in the hand, then take it.

The chances of coming off H’s WL are bleak. If it happens at all, it could be as late as August.

Do you know any ways I can increase my chance of getting off the waitlist, cos Hotchkiss and Berkshire are the only schools that put me on the wait list. All the others I applied for rejected me.

There is nothing else you can really do. Let the school know you are really interested in attending and wish to remain on the list. Then wait. Don’t keep bugging them or telling them you want an update. Only send new information if it adds significantly adds to what they have on file for you.

IMHO you might have a better chance for movement at Berkshire. Consider focusing on them as much as you focus on Hotchkiss. Stay on Hotchkiss, but also let Berkshire know you are really interested.

My child was rejected outright at Hotchkiss (but waitlisted at a few others) so good luck to you with this.

Thank you
I am working on Berkshire now. I think I was too focused on Hotchkiss earlier, which isn’t a good idea. I should focus equally on both Berkshire and Hotchkiss.
Does anybody know what are the unique and special aspect about Berkshire? Since I have no visited Berkshire, I don’t know as much about it as Hotchkiss.

Try to visit! If you have a favorite, I would recommend telling the school that you plan to attend if offered a spot. Once a month or so (not more), you may want to update both schools with interesting information and continue letting them know you’re interested. Otherwise, maybe try a school with rolling admission? If you try another school and get accepted, think hard about where you will want to matriculate- private schools ask for hefty deposits you may not be able to pass over. If none of those work, try applying for a senior year or post graduate! Good luck!

@pdl100 thanks very much for your information!!
