For those who are applying to Hotchkiss, you know that they don't have a log-in to check your application status with (i.e. MyAndover and GoChoate!). I got an e-mail a few weeks ago with "items processed through January 5" listed and checked off. It said that you shouldn't worry if some things are still missing, as they'll send you a second e-mail "next week". I never got one, and judging by some other posts by users, I don't think I'm the only one. I know that they're busy with the influx of mail, but it's almost Feb. 1st which is when they usually start reading applications. Should I wait until next week for the e-mail, and if I still don't recieve one, call? I don't want to bother them, but I do want to make sure all of my materials are in. Thanks! :)

you are not alone. I didn’t get a second email either, but what was missing was the package from my school, and my school sent out a class email to address this since so many people had the same issues. When did you submit? Also were any of the missing items parts you were submitting yourself that should have been there by the 5th?

I received the email regarding the items processed by January 5th, but I also received an email two or three days ago saying my entire application had been successfully submitted.

I only got one email (processed up to Jan 21) that said my transcripts were missing. I got that email like three days ago? :(

@chukkerhead Yeah, the deadline was the 14th so I still had the essays and parent statements to send in, I also think that my graded essay was in the mail at that point.

@kd9659 How odd, maybe I should call…

@blehjoints January 21!!! Mine was the 5! That’s so weird! I got mine like three weeks ago… maybe they’re behind :l :/

And Choate and Andover both got all of the materials (graded essay, recs) so they probably got mailed out okay.

Bump - I need adviceee!

My first email on 12/30 included items received and processed through 12/21. Lots of things were missing. Then it said “Don’t panic if you are missing items, they’d send another update by 1/27. Only call if you have received two of these updates. Once we receive all missing information, we will send you a letter confirming that your file is complete.”

The second email, using the exact same language, was sent on 1/14. The update included items processed through 1/5, (now all that was missing was school reports and transcripts). This time it said “don’t panic … they’ll send another email next week.” Again, “Only call if you have received two of these updates.” Once they receive all the missing information they will notify us that the file is complete.

Well, I have now received two of those emails, but I also know that the school forms were sent but Hotchkiss had not had time to record them by the 1/14 email. So I’m going to wait a bit; I’m sure a “complete” letter will arrive this week.

Ahhhh I can’t call from overseas? It’ll cost a bomb! D: I only ever got one email - received January 27, with items processed up to January 21. Should I be worried? Maybe I should call. ._.

Why? The email said that items received subsequent to January 21 would be updated later and that you would receive another email when that was done. Why not just let them do it?

I just called the school and indicated we only ever received the email prior to Christmas in regards to things missing and we’ve received nothing since, the woman who answered the phone said if that were the case then we would receive no further communication if her file was complete. But I at least would like a status update that her file is complete?

I agree with you mauiluver…it does put the mind at ease to know everything has been received by them, especially since other schools send email, letters or have places to login to check one’s status.

See, I only got that one e-mail earlier this month with items processed through the 5th. They didn’t even send two. I called today anyways, and they said it was complete. I love Hotchkiss and all, but I really think they need a better method for updating application statuses. I mean, we didn’t even all get the same e-mails on the same dates!

^I know, right? I think I’m just going to wait. I already re-send my transcripts anyway, so not much I can do :)
