Hotchkiss Application

I just received an email that says all my application materials have been received. What worries me is that I turned in my app materials on time so getting this email makes me wonder is my app late? Has anyone else gotten this email?

I actually e-mailed Hotchkiss before the deadline, just to make sure my file was complete. They replied in the affirmative; I honestly don’t know why they would be so late with yours. Maybe they just finished getting all the paperwork together? At any rate, I would hesitate to contact the offices immediately, because they are as busy as heck right now…

Hopefully that’s why because they had never sent me an email saying that anything was missing. I only say this because before they said they’d send an email if something was missing and when I never received anything I figured I was okay.

Yeah, if they didn’t e-mail you saying that your file was lacking, then there should be no problem! Did you get your online information from Hotchkiss, though? The username and password?

Dont worry, I got the same email too and I handed in my materials on time

is anyone confident about your Hotchkiss app? Anyone believes you’ll get in?

GoldenRatio yes I did! Phew you just made me feel a whole lot better thanks!
BHADES ok that’s good to know someone received this. Thanks!

I am not confident in my Hotchkiss application at all. I know for sure that I blew it. :P

I just got it today too. Strange. I wouldn’t believe that they JUST started reading them

@PxAlaska: Just throw more wood into the fire, why don’t you…I’m getting slightly worried; am I the odd one out? :S

GoldenRatio of course not! I’m slightly worried…well actually more than slightly more like supercalifragilisticexpaladociously nervous. Trying to not worry is probably the hardest thing in the world, but at least we will all be prepared for the waiting during college app season.

@confusedonhades: All of us have been reduced to twittering balls of anxiety. It’s rather surprising what a simple envelope can do to us! I just hope the college app season isn’t as bad.

@GoldenRatio: i really enjoy reading your posts! They’re filled with words
that broaden my vocab haha

@GoldenRatio first of all I completely agree with hamburger110 and secondly I’ve been trying so hard to focus on sports, music, something. Sadly I continually fail and go right back to worrying. Maybe its because 3 of my 4 are super selective or maybe it’s just this whole process. Days have never felt so long…

By this late in the process, I would bet that the email meant that individual applications had been read by AOs and transferred to a committee for decision. It probably is that the former makes recommendations and the latter decides.

@SharingGift: …and with that, my application is condemned to the guillotine. No e-mail telling me that I’ve been shipped to the committee equals no passing grade with the AOs. Oh, well. :(

@hamburger110: Haha, thanks! I guess I have a future as an English teacher, then! :)

@confusedonhades: I know, right? But there are only 10 odd days left! Now, instead of bouncing with anticipation, I have this dismal prickling of dread. What if I get rejected? I applied to some GLADCHEMMS like you, and they are as selective as…well, the saying “one in a million” pops into my head.

GR: I understand your anxiety but it was an email sent out to all completed applications. By rule, a TSAO school is bound not to announce any sort of admission decision until M9. So take it easy.

@SharingGift: Haha, I know, I have a tendency to overreact. sheepish grin But I have a very detail-oriented outlook on others; I believe that every nanometer of movement is significant. I should definitely change that…

SharingGift: I’m sorry I don’t know if I’m fully understanding you mean by " the former makes recommendations and the latter decides". Do you mean whoever the head of the form is will suggest who should be granted admission and then whoever is above them decides? I’m just confused because I thought the head of forms had the final say besides the director of admissions.

GoldenRatio: Don’t give up! I’m positive you’ll get in somewhere and if for some completely odd reason you don’t it’s their loss.

Good luck to you guys! I was in the same position last year. And Golden, I very much doubt you can read that far into it. I’m friends with a admissions officer, and they are overwhelmed with applications. Mistakes can happen.
