hotel in bloomington

original plans were to go see the school, and we booked a hotel and everything, but after seeing what they're giving me for financial aid, ive just decided on minnesota lol so we aint even gonna go visit IU. so, we have a non refundable hotel booked for the night of march 25th i beleive. was wondering is anyone interested in having our parents work out some deal or sumthin? we give you the room, you pay us kinda thing. hell idk how thatd work lol

Well, heck—we have non-refundable airline tickets to Indianopolis totalling $500. But we can exchange up until early December. Since I hate to fly and I have no idea where we would fly to, anyway, I sure hope we aren’t going to just lose the $500. :(

Good luck!

I hate to rain on your parade but I don’t think you can “sell/trade” non-refundable hotel rooms. I HOPE I’m wrong, and yours can be transferred. But I’ve been a travel agent for…well…a long time unfortunately. And typically nonrefundable rooms can’t be modified in any way. Check in/out date, name on reservation, room type - nothing. Sometimes you can call them and negotiate it. But, one really doesn’t have any bargaining power. They don’t care…they’ve made the money and now they’ll save the free breakfast if the person doesn’t show, so…there is no incentive for them to allow you to trade it to someone else. And they can’t really just give your name, because they’d have to show ID (othewise…ANYONE could come and just take your hotel room from you). So…just sayin’…if you DO get any “takers” on your offer…make sure it’s OK to change the name on it.

These are the reasons we’ve been waiting to book air to admitted students weekends for my daughter. We really HAVE to wait until April 1 - when all the decisions are up - or I know we’d just kick ourselves if she miraculously got into another school on the east coast…when we’d already planned the weekend to visit NYU and could have just swung by and caught the other school or something. So…either way…many of us end up “paying”. We either take our chance and get “cheap” nonrefundable early on…and possibly lose it. Or we wait…and pay big bucks for late reservations. It’s a tough call. Hope you get someone to help you out. Cuz we all need ALL our money to pay for college right now…yes?
