Hotel School Encourage to Transfer?

Good Afternoon!

I received an email reading “Hotel School Encourage to Transfer” which essentially said that they wanted to give me a spot but couldn’t at this exact moment, and gave me a few things to do to make my transfer application stronger (which seemed more like a list of requirements.)

I know that they used to give GTO’s (Guaranteed Transfer Option’s), and I was wondering if this is this year’s equivalent or if everyone got the same message.

Any information is appreciated! Thank you!

“Encourage to transfer” is different than a GTO. There is no guarantee of admission with an Encourage to Transfer, and you must submit a transfer application.

I received the same letter. Any insight? I had heard Cornell no longer sends out GTO’s in the Hotel School.
Has anyone spoken to the Hotel School about these types of letters?

Hey thats definitely not true since I was offer GT to Hotel School this year.

Thanks, did your GT have an abbreviated application which asked you to indicate your desire to accept the TO? Also, was this for this years application process that just ended? Just trying to understand what and why they sent this letter to me and what it means.
