usc said they’d pay for half of the plane ticket, but made no mention of hotel fees. is there any discount if you book your room through usc’s travel agency?

I’m not quite clear on this Explore USC. Do you need to book a hotel at all if you are just staying there for the 2 days? I thought you lived in a student’s dorm or something…

Also, are parents required to go?

The Radisson is fine: you’ll be so busy that any perceived lack of amenities won’t matter much. The location can’t be beat.

Anjoola, yes you stay in the dorms with a host student for 2 nights. You do not need a hotel room. The hotel suggestions are for parents who are coming as well. Parents are not required to come. There are many students who come alone.

aahhh, it mentions in the letter that there are discounted hotels. sorry about that…

@Sequoia - One night, not two.

^when you arrive in la, i think they pick you up and house you in the university, right? like, if i’m going march 1-2, i have to fly there on sunday, feb 28. i can stay at usc for that night right? or do i have to find a hotel?

The USC travel agency is OK. but you’ll do just as well on Hotwire, Expedia, etc. & have a far better selection.

Yes…you should expect not only a letter but can determine in your USC “account” if you are being considered for a scholarship…

soad…Yes, sorry about that…one night, two days.

Neon, you’ll have to find your own way to USC - they won’t pick you up. There are lots of shuttles, some of the other parents can give specifics. If you come in the day before Explore you will need a hotel for the first night.
