Hotels/Motels/Guest Houses close to Bryn Mawr

Hi,

I will be joining BM this fall. My family plans to stay around for a few days. Could you please advise any affordable/cheap residential place close to college? Anything besides Radnor would be good.

The only rooms in the immediate area are the rooms in Wyndham (which are probably already booked) and the Bryn Mawr Guest Suites. Within 15 minutes driving distance there’s the Villanova Conference Center in Villanova, the Wayne Hotel in Wayne, the Radnor Hotel in Radnor, and the Philadelphia Marriott West and Residence Inn by the Marriott, both in Conshohocken. Wayne and Radnor are close to the R5 if transportation is an issue.

None of these places is particularly affordable though. The cheapest rooms I could find in the larger area started at $150/night. The Main Line is an affluent residential neighborhood that doesn’t seem to have much need for rooms, let alone cheap ones :)

With a little bit of luck, there just might be a room available at Wyndham.

On the site, I noticed PAInns.com – might be worth contacting them…
If you call Wyndham, ask for other suggestions, if necessary.
Or try looking in Philly – just a train ride away.

@Ottoline and Barium: Thank you. This certainly helped. Do you have any idea how much Wyndham Alumnae House charge per night (per room)?

Thanks again :)

$119 plus tax and this includes breakfast, too.
As Barium noted, their rooms may be booked already – there aren’t very many.
When I stayed, there were charming people to chat with at breakfast – a great place to say, if there’s room…

The Marriott Inn in Conchohocken is very reasonable on weekends–from Sunday through Thursday the rates go up considerably. It’s a very nice facility–much nicer than the Radnor and newer then the Wayne Hotel. I’ve never booked early enough to get to stay at the Wndham House on the BM campus.

I’m trying to find a place for graduation next year ('11) and I’ve found that a number of places are already booked.

Congrats to your senior, Bromfield! That’s very exciting!

Maybe this can help: [Hotels near Bryn Mawr College - Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania PA](25 Hotels TRULY CLOSEST to Bryn Mawr College, PA | HotelGuides.com)

Have you seen this list?
[Bryn Mawr College | Accommodations in the Area](http://www.brynmawr.edu/campus/accommodations.shtml)

nope, i had not seen it until now. thanks again. You all have been a great help.

Hope it all works out well for your family, Maheen! And may you have a wonderful freshman year! Many years have passed, but I still remember walking into my Pem East
room for the very first time! Enjoy your days at Bryn Mawr!

Bryn Mawr’s list of accommodations in the area is just a partial list of the hotels in the greater Philadephia area. Many of them are not close to Bryn Mawr at all, so check their location before you book.

Good point, B@rium. I just looked in Princeton Review’s “Visiting College Campuses”
and it suggested contacting Bed and Breakfast Connections – 900-448-3619 or
610-687-3565. (It also mentioned Wyndham and the Radnor Hotel --both previously
noted.) The edition I have is six years old and so the contact numbers may have changed.
Has anyone asked Wyndham for suggestions?

I got a room in Wyndham. :)

@barium: I checked out all distances through hopstop and most of them are 5-10 miles away from BM.

Great news about getting a room in Wyndham, Maheen!
Happy ending to this saga! The floors creak a bit, but it just felt great staying there.
And it’s right there!

Wyndham is great! I hope your parents will enjoy their stay there.

A random piece of advice: if your parents are staying past move-in day, do not let your ISO advisers or Custom’s people know they are there. When I was an ISO assistant, we were instructed to send parents away and not let them see their kids during ISO because parents might interfere with the adjustment-to-college process. I think Custom’s people get similar instructions.

@Ottoline:“And it’s right there!”
this was the deciding factor.

@barium: I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks :)
