Hotels Near UCSB

What hotels are near the UCSB campus? Thanks.

Price? The Courtyard by Marriott on Storke Road is virtually in Isla Vista (It is at the end of the road, actually in Goleta, but students can easily ride a bike there. I’d say Santa Catalina off campus dorms (OK it’s called ‘Storke Campus’ but it’s off campus as far as you can tell physically) are slightly closer to UCSB than to the shopping center to which this place is adjacent. If price isn’t a factor, this would be the best place to be for getting a feel for the place, or visiting.

The cheapest decent one I saw when I was looking for hotels, which is not exactly ‘close’ if you are walking or biking, but fine if you are driving, was the Motel Six in Santa Barbara. Make sure you are getting the one across from the beach (there are no motels beach front but this essentially is with the best of them, it has been there forever.) it is nothing particular inside, but it is excellently located to enjoy Santa Barbara, although not right by UCSB.

There are a ton of hotels, but those would be my tops depending on what I was looking for. Don’t believe ads that tell you Carpenteria is nearby, however, it is past Santa Barbara and out the other side.

We always stay at the Pacifica Suites, a few miles from campus. They have king or double beds plus a fold out sofa bed, and they’re dog friendly if you reserve far enough in advance. Full cooked to order breakfast is great. They’re prices have been creeping up, but if you sign up for the email specials you can get 20% off. I’ve never asked about a UCSB discount, but they may have one. For longer visits it’s worth checking out vacation rental properties on a site such as VRBO. The nightly rate is usually less than hotels and you get much more space.

I second the Pacifica Suites.

We’ve been staying at the Best Western South Coast Inn in Goleta. Very comfy beds, nicely manicured grounds but the breakfast is lacking. It’s easy to hop onto 217 which takes you to the (East ?) campus gate. There’s a TJ’s and CVS across the street which makes it very easy to pick up supplies.
