How many hours a week do you guys spend on extracurriculars?
I counted it up and I’m around getting 27.
I just want to get a feel for what the norm is.

I wrote around 20, but I feel like I need to double check (I probably have less).
27? Really? If you’re just talking about weekdays, that’s 5.4 hours a day - seems a little much to me. But if you have 5.4 hours of ECs a day after school and manage to keep up good grades in challenging classes with them, congrats
This is one of the dumbest questions on the common app. Say you do something year around, and attend camps in the summer for it. A 2 week camp is 40 hours/week. Practices for a couple weeks before school starts might be 20 hours per week. You might practice daily and have 1 game/week, but then at tournament time you spend more.
You just have to add up your hours for the whole year, divide by the weeks you are active, and use that. I think colleges know it is a crazy question, and don’t expect perfect accuracy.
@intparent Yeah that’s the issue for me. For my sport, we have 4 hour practices per week during off-season, but it goes to 12 in May when we play for our State Championship. I’ll do what you said, thank you.
@purplepiano It’s included the weekends too. For one EC, I spend 6 hours every Saturday.
@purplepiano Maybe I wasn’t clear enough. I spend 4 hours a day on extracurriculars during the weekdays, and about 5 hours on homework. On Saturdays, I spend 6 hours a week on one extracurricular. Then, on Sunday, I just do SAT Prep and homework.
