Hours to put in to get a 5?

ive read that you need 60-100 hours of studying to get a 5 on the ap Calc BC exam. I was wondering how much time you guys that got a 5 have spent studying.

Thank You

Not sure where you’ve read this or if it’s true…this will definitely vary from person to person, and will also vary on how well you learn the material. Blindly memorizing theorems and differentiation/integration rules probably won’t get you too far.

For me, I took a Calc BC class in HS (not sure if time spent in class = studying), did the homework and readings, but didn’t spend much additional time studying - scored a 5. However, math is my stronger subject…

You know, that’s one of the things I’m scared of. Doing badly on the BC exam. In AB I got a 4, but I didn’t do well in the class throughout most of the year. C’s. The 4 on the AP brought me up to a “B”.

Maybe I’m making an mistake doing this.

I think this is the wrong way to approach studying for a test. It’s not a matter of how many hours you put in equaling a four or a five. It depends on how well you fundamentally understand the concepts. Some people pick up Calculus incredibly quickly and don’t need to review concepts as long as others. I’d say as you prepare for your review consider how long it takes you to go over a concept that you haven’t touched in a bit of time. From there, you can map out all the concepts you need to review before beginning to practice for the exam.
