House Hunting - the good, bad and exceptionally ugly!

My mother modeled her kitchen after Julia Child’s down to the peg board on the walls. I had a peg board in my starter house, but have moved up to Ikea hardware and shelves.

Just to close the loop on the townhouse in my complex that we went to the open house last month. Final sales price $1.181 million. My next door neighbor had guessed it could go for as much as $1.2 million so she was pretty close.

In case you missed it:

I don’t think ANYTHING in that room goes with anything!

Trash TV House Hunting comment:
A new season of Selling Sunset is out on Netflix. Along with all the human drama, this midwesterner enjoys seeing million(s) $ LA area homes. A lot of white and a lot of beautiful outdoor living!

That’s my old neck of the woods (well, close by anyway). I wonder if it was owned by a McDonald’s executive (their world HQ was in Oak Brook for decades until recently; son interned there three summers in college).

@BunsenBurner - found you a wine cellar…

Ahahaha! I was gonna say this wine cellar might work, but their exercise room is somewhat small!

Not a good time to sell a riverfront lot in my neck of the woods… weird choice of pictures for the listing, but they are likely telling the truth! Water is what you get - plenty of it!

After looking at first few pics, I was wondering if they’re selling a house under the water, like Atlantis or something. :grinning:

I was trying to find a “cozy” room in that house. Nope (maybe the sauna?). Even the giant fireplace was scary looking.

What the heck is this room? It looks like it’s being eaten by shag carpet.

I wondered about that too. Yoga studio? Show dog training room? Martial arts practice?

With those lights, it looks like it might have been a presentation room of some kind. Why it was carpeted though…

IMO, it is a built in pedestal for the bed. Kind of like the third photo in here:

That’s what I thought also. Sure is ug-ly, though.

That place is an excellent example of lots of money, zero taste.

sweetgum - the commentary on the mcmansionhell site is hysterical!

Whoa. The castle in my post above finally got sold, which proves that anything will sell if the price is right.

Someone must have believed Monroeville really is a town….
