House Hunting - the good, bad and exceptionally ugly!

Yes, but it’s a funny movie promo though

You can’t buy it but you can stay at it.

Oh absolutely!

Bumping this up-
Putting a rental up for sale. It’s been a rental for over 20 years and it shows. The owners (not me) are doing some work to make it more desirable.
Bathroom vanities- they will buy them from a Lowe’s or Home Depot. Two bathrooms, I’m thinking both white but someone else suggested we do one in navy. Opinions?
Also this light fixture is in the dining area. Firat inclination is to donate and replace but now considering leaving it.

I love that light fixture. My young people love mid century modern. It looks a little like that

I’d leave it up and let the new owners decide what they want to do with it.

Keep those lights and make both baths white

I was ready to wince. Nope, those are beautiful, especially if those colors are brought out in staging.

I am not a fan of the light fixture. @Nrdsb4 : What “colors”? Puke green with flecks of orange?

I’m seeing browns and blues. No “puke greens” or orange.

Don’t love those fixtures, but it seems reasonable to leave them for the buyer to decide.

Not a fan of the lights either; to me they look like pottery projects rather than lamp shades. But I agree; let the buyer replace if so desired.

Yes browns and blues, they are pretty dirty inside and out so will see how they clean up.

I would keep the light fixtures as is and
leave it to the new owners. Changing light fixtures is the easiest and cheapest DIY reno project that leads to instant gratification and customization. I’m very picky about lights and would be somewhat annoyed that the seller obviously spent $$ to install brand new fixtures I don’t like.

I’d 100% stick with white baths - navy is way too trendy.

I absolutely don’t mind any of the like fixtures and wouldn’t waste money on changing those out.

I’m also in agreement with doing white in both bathrooms. Blues seems to be on their way out and being replaced by greens. Those trends come and go too quickly.

While those light fixtures aren’t my favorite, if the market in the area where that house will be listed is hot, they might not matter. Ditto for the popcorn ceiling (that’s a dated look). When my s sold his previous house a year ago, they updated almost everything (IMO some things were not in need of replacing but what do I know) including very contemporary, neutral light fixtures. In fact, they took the dining room fixture that was taken from their old home and put it in their current home!

If you are handy, since light fixtures are easy and cheap-ish to swap out, I might change to something more modern and neutral.

The existing ones are cool- but a specific aesthetic. Agree with white bathrooms!

Thanks for the input. I went with two white vanities. I’m going to leave the lights up for now. They can always be changed at the last minute.
