Housing and dining application process question

I'm applying for housing and I can't complete it yet because it said that it didn't assign me a room. So does that mean I can't completely complete the housing application until I am assigned a room? Also for dining, when I called Housing @ Cornell, the ladie told me that I can sign up for dining without the NET ID. She said that there should be a link where you can sign up for dining without NET ID. Also, After you finish the housing application, the dining, and etc, does the financial aid adjust to what you get?

yes it says you cant complete the application until room assignments are made. as you long as you filled it out up to the contract part you are fine and you’ve done all you need to do.
there is a link for dining w/o a net id. its right under the dining link with net id. its blatantly there just look for it on the dining page.

i dont know about hte financial aid part but i don’t believe so. i think your financial aid is supposed to cover a double room and the bear traditional meal plan. if you receive/choose a room/plan more expensive than those, you have to contact them about it to see if your financial aid could be adjusted to cover it. i could be wrong

As long as you request a double room, your FinAid will be adjusted if you get a single room. If you request a single, your aid will not be increased. That is what both FinAid and housing office told us.

so, does anyone know when we get our housing assignments?

^last year is was like the third or so week of June. was delayed a bit by the general email service fail that happened…but I’m pretty sure that won’t happen again

I’m like the worst Cornellian ever for waking up on Slope Day and posting helping answers on CC. and planning to go to class right now! sorry!!!

What we did was to check the application every once in a while. It will let you know when the status changes.

If for whatever reason you don’t like the room assignment or have question about it, don’t complete the application. Try to call the housing office to resolve it first.

faustarp - you are good. I am about to wake up my daughter so she could make it to her breakfast mixer by 9:30.

is the dining application due today?

my parents havent really told me what theyre covering so that might, pathetically, impact which dining plan i use
lol

get 10, 14 meals a week at most.
not pathetic to be reasonable about money.

The dining plan pamphlet that came with the acceptance folder says “Suggested dining plan application deadline is May 1st.” So I guess you could interpret in a few different ways…?

Question: we don’t have to request a roommate, do we? If we don’t, they’ll just assign us one based on our survey answers, right?

After you certify your application, you can still change your choices/requests for the Questionnaire or Room preference right? As long as its before May 2, midnight, it still counts, right?

If you request a single as any choice? So if i requested a single as a fourth choice and got it i’d have to pay the extra for the single?

@ ddg:

i want to know this too. what is the deadline to change your housing preference and request a roommate? does this have to be done by tonight, may 1st? or can you change it afterwards [up to a certain point] as long as your housing app has been certified?

bump -

whats the difference between house traditional and bear traditional? They both are pretty much the same except the house traditional has unlimited meals for the west campus housing.

There’s no hurry to get dining signed up today, right? It doesn’t delay housing or anything, right?

There is no hurry with dining. You could still change it after school starts. We signed up for a full meal plan. But very quickly our daughter told us she only needed lunch and dinner, then when she joined her sorority spring semester, number of meals came down even more.

You should have your housing preference done by tonight. I have to say I find Cornell’s computer system a bit befuddling to me sometimes. It’s not consistent.

darn, so we’d have to request a roommate by tonight? totally should’ve started looking earlier. =/

what if we dont know anyone to request a roommate with? haha…

i’m assuming they just pair you up with someone random (based on your survey answers) if you dont choose one. i didn’t choose one

Hey Feral, Im from MD too XD. just wanted to point that out. Anyways can someone tell me the difference between house traditional and bear traditional? They both seem the same except the house traditional has unlimited meals in the housing system.
