I know it is very early to be talking about housing options at Tulane, but I'm curious so I thought it couldn't hurt to ask now anyways. I have sifted through a few old threads on CC about housing at Tulane and watched the YouTube videos that Tulane created about each dorm, so I have a pretty basic idea of all of the housing options offered there. Specifically, I am looking to learn more about the Paterson dorm.

1.) I understand that this is a wellness dorm, and as a vegan, I like the idea of living with others with the same dietary needs as myself. However, my life does not revolve around veganism and animal rights - would I be able to find enough people at Paterson who have other interests and hobbies outside of diet and exercise?
2.) How is Paterson's location on Tulane's campus in terms of proximity to other buildings and dining halls?
3.) Will you find more students involved with sports (intramural, club, or Division I) who are living in Paterson rather than in other dorms because of Paterson's emphasis on wellness?
4.) From what I hear Monroe and Sharp are the most "social" dorms, but does Paterson also have a pretty social, fun loving atmosphere or is it more of a quiet, non-partying dorm?

Thank you for all of your help!

Never too early to ask! Here is my opinion on your inquiries:

1 and 2) Yes, you will easily find people with lots of other interests, both within Paterson and, of course, elsewhere. Your circle of friends will not necessarily center around the dorm you live in. The freshman dorms are mostly close together anyway (the exceptions are JL, the all girls dorm, and the brand new dorm Greenbaum which is a mix of freshmen and sophomores), so going from one to another is quite easy. Specifically, you are within a few steps of Wall, and not much further from Sharp, Monroe and Butler. The dining hall is very close to you as well, although they are building a new dining hall that will be further away, but still hardly far. Only by comparison to where you are now. But by then you will be a junior or maybe even a senior (I forget the timetable) so who knows what dorm you will be in then, or maybe off campus.

3) I don’t think that will be true.

4) I am not sure about this one, but I think it is probably much less of a party dorm. Partly because of its structure; it is a mix of hall style and suites, and has some open walkways so not a completely closed building like Sharp and Monroe; and also because it is also not all freshmen, last time I checked.

Perhaps some current Paterson residents can chime in.
