Housing at UCSB

We were told the dorms would have active heating and cooling with strong ventilation.

my understanding as a student is that traditionally, UCSB endowment growth has lagged behind other UCs because remember, it was a raging party school in the 90s and had an acceptance rate of 85+%. this was never the case for Davis and San Diego.

There has been immense progress on this front during the last 15 years but it still lags the other UCs. It takes time to catch up!

Chancellor Yang just announced a 2 billion dollar campaign Yang announces $2B fundraising campaign, gives update on university happenings at UC Regents meeting | The Daily Nexus to put the university on par with other peers.

We are starting to get some really big gifts, like this $60 million dollar gift towards the Ocean Science program, now called the Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory LOL

My understanding is that UCSB would’ve had to dig deeply into its endowment to build the housing they needed, especially since the state wasn’t about to give them any funding. Munger was willing to fill the financial gap, to the tune of HUNDREDS of millions of dollars. Money the school needed.
