Housing contract expired??

So I honestly don’t know where else to put this so I came here to college confidential hoping
I could find some answers.
Right after I was accepted into UF as a freshman, I paid the $25 deposit to apply for housing or whatever that fee even covers. After 2 days, I received the housing contract which expired March 17, however, I did not pay the $200 deposit or fill out the contract because I was still waiting to find out decisions from other schools and financial aid and still wasn’t decided on what my best option would be. After I decided on UF, I payed the $200 enrollment fee but took my time getting to the housing contract because I initially wanted to live off campus. After talking to many UF students, I was told that living on campus is the best idea for your first year. So I attempted to fill out the contract but then I realized it expired which means I’m going to be homeless :).
So right now I added myself on the waitlist to see if I can still get on campus housing, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions or if this had happened to anyone? Is there a chance I can get off the waitlist ??

As a side note… In case this whole thing doesn’t work out would anyone be interested in living with me at an off campus apartment? Girls only pls bc I’m girl but anyways if you are pls message me or whatever.

There are some websites like ■■■■■■■■.com. I’m not sure if they’re only for people seeking to find roommates for dorms, or if it’s also for roommates for an apartment, but I’m sure there are websites and FB pages out there for exactly this purpose. If you google it, I’m sure you’ll find some options. And living in an apartment is actually much cheaper than living in a dorm on campus (the drawback is that you’ll be farther from campus and need to allow for more travel time to get to classes, etc. But the public transit is awesome and reliable. I think they might even have an app for tracking where your bus is so you know how fast you have to run to make it!
