Does housing selection and submission begin once u give deposit? By waiting to attend acceptance day on 4/14 hurt chances of dorm selection? Or is it lottery based, with a set date for all freshman like 5/1 using your top preferences?
Last year I paid the deposit on 4/27, and then was asked to register for Student Orientation. It was on 5/12 that my son set up his selection of dorm/meals. The deadline for dorm/meals selection was 5/25. All entering student will be sent the instructions at the same time but filling it out before anyone else doesn’t matter, therefore you can take your time; it’s not first come first serve. After a certain date they begin evaluating medical purposes, then preferred shared [url=<a href=“http://reslife.rpi.edu/update.do?artcenterkey=887%5Dhousing%5B/url”>http://reslife.rpi.edu/update.do?artcenterkey=887]housing[/url], then preferred theme housings, and then everyone else that didn’t sign up to share a room, nor pick a specific house.

According to whether you signed up to team up with someone else that chose the same housing, that gives you more leverage to getting the housing that you both picked. It therefore increases your chance of getting the house that you want if you can find someone to sign up with that wants that same housing and filled the personality form identical. Tip of the day, get on discord with some of the entering students and see which people you might get along with but definitely don’t limit yourself to people with the same major, that will only decrease your chances of finding a compatible person.
