Hello, I am an incoming freshman to UC Berkeley for fall 2016.
For my housing application, I did not know I had to put “any room size- any location” as my 5th preferences, therefore I was not offered housing. I called them and they said that I was on the spreadsheet. They, at first, told me that they will send out the second offer by the end of last week, and that did not happen. I checked online today and called them today, and found out that I was on the WAITLIST for the housing, which means it is not guaranteed.
I really want the experience of staying in dorms.
HOW LIKELY AM I TO GET HOUSING?
If anyone knows anything about this, please help me
This happened to a friend of my son three years ago and she did not get off the wait list. Start looking at off campus dorms. The Berk is a popular one - my son’s friend ended up there and she liked it very much.

I’m afraid if you wait to see if you get off the wait list all the off campus choices might also be gone.
Does financial aid cover that?
I think you should call the financial aid office and discuss it. I notice on the 2105-2016 cost of attendance, there is more budgeted for living on campus. So if your financial aid is based on the estimated costs, then you might receive less if you are living off campus.
